REVIEW
Based on the book by Adam Mortimer, This Way I Was Saved, this was generally a pretty fun movie all be it slow. What happens when traumatic events lead to creating an imaginary friend who wants to be real? This is more than a twisted Pinocchio story. While this movie sits squarely in the horror genre doesn't bring too many scares. Doesn't have much gore. And I canโ€™t even say what few kill scenes were all that great. But it was still enjoyable.

While exploring themes of identity, sanity, and more the most entertaining parts come from seeing our MC and his imaginary friend warp each other. The MC fluctuates between moments of fluidity and slowly loses grip on his sanity with high-charged confidence instilled by his psychotic imaginary friend. This brings out some solid psychological aspects of the film that instill the most fear instead of on-screen โ€œpayoffsโ€.ย

Each of the cast members does well in their role, especially Miles Robins playing both the Imaginary Daniel andย

This is itโ€™s biggest pitfall. The movie is only an hour and forty minutes, but it felt like it dragged on for much longer. This is pretty typical in psychological horror but when done well can be a really fun ride. This missed the mark.
